‘Can’t Sleep, I’m Dreaming’ is the fourth and most recent project released by rapper Will McClean. Born and raised in Wellington, Will has been grinding in a basement working out his place in this world with the help of his pen.
With three EP’s released in 2019 on Soundcloud and one in January 2020, Will McClean has been busy working on his craft. Taking inspiration from artists such as Mac Miller, J Cole and Tom Scott to name a few; his laid back style is intertwined with a message to spread peace and love to other humans and to this earth.
His new 8 track album is an extremely personal and vulnerable expression, presented with vibrant delivery and varied flows all throughout the project. With lyrics touching on his own grief, loss & heartbreak, the Wellington rapper’s ability for sincerity and honesty take the project to places not many artists have the boldness to explore. The rapper is also aided by solid features from artists JClean and Lainey on two different tracks. ‘Can’t Sleep, I’m Dreaming.’ shows not only Will’s growth musically as an artist from his previous EP’s, but the storytelling displayed on the project explores his journey of growth as a person as well.
The project is supported by great beats from producers: PKBEATZ, Young $Wisher, Encore, Ashton Cane, BMTJ, ThatKidGoran & Fantom. The solid production by the multiple various producers provides a great level of variety whilst maintaining cohesive sounds and style.
‘Can’t Sleep, I’m Dreaming.’ is an emotional and sincere project with songs you can easily get lost in. And shows that Will is a rapper whose potential for success as an artist is much more than just a pipe dream. One thing is for sure, Will McClean is definitely not to be slept on.
