Dunedin singer/songwriter Rubita returns with a soul-stirring account of mistrust and unexpected outcomes. ‘Let Me Know’ is the lead single from her debut album ‘Distinctive Thrill’, and tells the story of someone unsure if they’re ready to take another chance on love.
With all the charm of an indie-pop record, Rubita has an authentic take that offers a unique view of the genre. Penned in her cold Leith St Dunedin Flat, ‘Let Me Know’ is partly inspired by the student culture of finding love and losing it quicker.
“‘Let Me Know’ is one of many songs from the album that I wrote while living as a student in the freezing flats of Dunedin. Sitting back on a couch with someone I didn’t think I’d have much to do with again is where this song started coming together,” says Rubita.
Recorded near Hamilton with producer Scott Newth, ‘Distinctive Thrill’ takes inspiration from these adventures and seeks to make them into something new. In the meantime, check out the video for ‘Let Me Know’ below;
