New Zealand hip-hop trailblazer Name UL has returned with his long-awaited EP, ‘THE DEEP DON’T SLEEP’.
Breaking into the scene with his 2016 album ‘Choice(s)’, the now Wellington-based artist has gone on to cement himself as one of the leading voices in the New Zealand hip-hop landscape. ‘THE DEEP DON’T SLEEP’ is a testament to Name UL’s talent and quality as an artist. At five-tracks, including the already released single ‘Red Eye’, ‘THE DEEP DON’T SLEEP’, is an immersive journey into the mind of Name UL.
Relocating to London in 2017, Name UL has had a wealth of international experience, including a spot on acclaimed electronic producer Getter’s album ‘Visceral.’ Speaking on the EP, Name UL explains it as a new chapter of his life, “this is the first new music for me in over a year. In that year, I moved my entire life from London back to New Zealand, which in itself is a massive change both mentally and physically. The perspective shift is huge, and it serves as a bit of a bookend in a chapter for me having gone and lived overseas.”
With a single feature from fellow Wellington-based artist Rhys Rich, ‘THE DEEP DON’T SLEEP’ is an exceptional release from Name UL.
