Christchurch based Monty Willers releases the introspective single ‘Play No More’.
Coming off the back of a series of impressive releases, the UK born artist is beginning to make a splash in the New Zealand alternative scene. ‘Play No More’ is the versatile artists latest single and secures Monty’s position as one to pay attention to.
With a colourful synth-led instrumental acting as the canvas for Willers, the artist reflects on what it means to love yourself. As he explains, “I wanted to make a track representing how in life we can’t love others until we love ourselves, and that sometimes, holding onto the thought of hope can be the one thing destroying both parties. This was about a partner who I was with and we weren’t happy, but we held onto the idea of love and comfort which wasn’t enough at the end of the day. I couldn’t “Play No More” and neither could she.”
Full of emotion and energy, Monty shares an all too relatable story of heartbreak and having to make a tough decision.
