Wellington-based electronic pop artist CRYSTAL returns with her sophomore single ‘The Chase.’
With moody synths and bass forming the basis of the instrumental, ‘The Chase’ is a grungy pop song seeing the artist shine. Across the song, the alt-pop dreamer navigates her hometown of Wellington in the never-ending pursuit for something or someone.
Crystal explains, “we’re always chasing after something even if we don’t realise we are. This song is about the chase… for happiness, for love, for success, for acceptance and self-validation, to feel enough. Yet the reality of this is that it’s draining and consuming.”
Written and produced alongside Nik Brinkman (Physical, Junica, Beach Blue), ‘The Chase’ follows up from her previously released single ‘My Flowers Are Dead’.
Having played Wellington festivals Cuba Dupa and Newtown Festival, as well as opening for ONONO and Australian up and comer KIAN in the past year, the future is looking bright for the 21 year-old pop crooner. CRYSTAL is also set to release her debut EP ‘Garlic Ice Cream’ later in the year.
