Crossing the boundaries of pop, electronic and trap, Wellington artist CRYSTAL emerges with the synth-heavy track ‘My Flowers Are Dead’. The song tells her journey of being torn between romantic and career aspirations. ‘My Flowers Are Dead’ is an emotionally charged piece seeing the young singer lay her ambitions bare.
Choosing to focus on herself, CRYSTAL explains “we’ve all compromised for romance, and this track is my experience of that. Too many times I’ve made decisions based on pleasing other people, but it’s important to do what’s right for you. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish. It can be challenging, but it’s also a super empowering thing to do”.
Studying a Commercial Music Degree at Massey University, CRYSTAL is looking to make a splash towards the end of the year, with ‘My Flowers Are Dead’ acting as her debut single across major streaming platforms. Although her debut single, CRYSTAL has a series of local performances to her name, including hosting her own gig at Wellington music venue Meow, with fellow musicians and friends Hybrid Rose, Jack Panther and Beach Boy.
Stay tuned for a big 2020 for CRYSTAL, and in the meantime, check out ‘My Flowers Are Dead’ below;
