Giving up the hustle and bustle of Auckland city, talented multi-instrumentalist Amnesia Jones sought solace in the tranquility of Waihi Beach. Deciding to take a DIY approach to his music, the talented artist built a shoebox-sized home studio and started working on his debut album.
The result being the 11 track self-titled album ‘Amnesia Jones’. A captivating blend of rock, jazz and funk, that seamlessly flows between tracks to create a truly unique listening experience.
Amnesia Jones took a very hands-on approach to crafting the album. Being responsible for the entire production, songwriting, recording, mixing and mastering process, the artist shaped the album to be played by a live six-piece band. Speaking on the process, “There’s a lot of music that’s live nowadays – band orientated and all recorded in a studio – and a lot of people think that’s the only way to make music. I’ve combined the two elements together, as well as all the genres and my influences, but on a production side it’s a blend as well.”
Coming straight out the blue with a full length album is no small feat, but the talented artist insists there is more to come. In the meantime, check out Amnesia Jones self-titled debut album below.
